Student Levi Santagate Named NCCC's Winter Carnival Prince

Levi Santagate is this year’s Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Prince.  The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Prince represents North Country Community College and the community during the peak of an Adirondack winter, and will serve as an  ambassador and  member of the Winter Carnival Court.

Levi is the son of Nick and Tracy Santagate of McColloms, NY and is pursuing an AS in Wilderness Recreation Leadership. He  has the honor of attending an array of Carnival events including the Coronation, Ice Show, Saranac Lake Central School District Carnival events, Winter Carnival Parade and a Fireworks display.

Saranac Lake

The 8th Annual Saranac Lake Cabin Fever Classic Film Festival will once again resurrect the magic of the silver screen, beginning Wednesday, March 4 and continuing each Wednesday night in March at 7:15 PM at the Saranac Laboratory on Church Street in Saranac Lake.

Sponsored by the Saranac Lake Arts Committee and the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks, the Cabin Fever Classic Film Festival shows films from the Golden Age of Hollywood - classic American comedies and dramas made between 1930 and 1975 (in all their 16mm glory), accompanied by cartoons or comedy shorts from the same era. This year's series will also offer dinner-and-a-movie opportunities, thanks to The Robert Louis Stevenson Tea Room.

On March18, the series heads west with John Ford's 1949 classic "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", sponsored by Tracy Santagate of Books and Baskets, and Katie Elder and Sons. It's 1876 and Captain Nathan Brittles' (John Wayne) career hangs in the balance following the battle of the Little Bighorn. With his command showing signs of breaking apart and Indian attack in the air, he embarks on a fateful final patrol. Before all this, Porky Pig will corral plenty of laughs when he breaks trail in "Wagon Heels."
